The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection on Wednesday announced it awarded grants to two York County businesses.

Red Lion-based R.J. Shoff Trucking received $9, 500, and East Berlin-based Wayne Nell & Sons Meats Inc. received $2,535.

The grant money will be used to help those small businesses invest in energy-efficiency or pollution-prevention projects, according to a DEP news release.

Eligible projects include high-efficiency HVAC and insulation upgrades, high-efficiency lighting to save energy, installation of energy-efficient heat pumps and new auxiliary power units that help large trucks reduce time spent with idling engines, according to the release.
