Local Boy Scouts will team up with the York Revolution for the 2013 season.
The team announced that the Boy Scouts of America - New Birth of Freedom Council will be the presenting sponsor this year.
That means the council will receive a portion of every lawn ticket that is sold, a possible donation for tickets purchased online and other benefits that will raise money for its endeavors.
Ron Gardner Jr., council Scout executive and CEO, said the partnership with the Revolution makes sense. A lot of boys, the council's target audience, attend games with their families.
"It's not just an opportunity to raise money but also a chance to promote what we do," he said.
Agreement: The local Boy Scout council, which covers six counties, including York County, is the team's fourth presenting sponsor in as many years.
In the past, the YMCA of York and York County, York County Libraries and the SPCA of York County have all been sponsors. Past presenting sponsors each grossed between $65,000 and $100,000 in their season-long fundraising efforts, according to a team official.
The team and the Boy Scouts have linked up in the past as the team hosted sleepover nights, which brought Scouts to the ballpark for a special campout.
"Throughout our summers at Sovereign Bank Stadium, the Boy Scouts of America - New Birth of Freedom Council were already among our biggest supporters and fans," Neil Fortier, the team's vice president for business development said in a news release.
The agreement for a York Revolution presenting sponsor lasts through one baseball season. Any organization that may be interested in partnering with the Revolution in future seasons is encouraged to call 801-4482 for more information.
What's included: The agreement between the Boy Scouts of America - New Birth of Freedom Council and the York Revolution includes:
* Receiving $2 of every lawn ticket sold for Revolution home games.
* A game-worn jersey auction, where fans will bid on Boy Scouts-themed jerseys worn by the players in a game, with a silent auction taking place during that game. All proceeds will go to the Boy Scouts.
* The proceeds from the Revolution's "Post-Game Pitch" contest will go to the Boy Scouts.
* A table at every game with which the Boy Scouts can sell their own merchandise.
* The opportunity for fans to donate $1 to the Boy Scouts per every online ticket transaction throughout the season.
* The opportunity to host two non-game day events at Sovereign Bank Stadium which may be used as fundraisers for the Boy Scouts.
