PHILADELPHIA—Police say a woman has been found tied up and set afire in the basement of a row home in central Philadelphia.

A police spokeswoman says emergency crews were called to the home just before 12:30 p.m. Monday.

Chief Inspector Scott Small tells the Philadelphia Inquirer that the woman's ankles and wrists were bound and she was facedown.

Investigators tell KYW-TV that she was discovered by her dog walker. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities haven't released the woman's name. But neighbors tell the newspaper that she was a young doctor named Melissa Ketunuti. Property records list Ketunuti as the homeowner.

Police say there was no sign of forced entry.

An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday.
