A Manchester Township woman and a Dover Township woman each reported to police that they had been targeted by scammers.

Police said the Manchester Township woman on Thursday reported she got a phone call from a man claiming to be with the FBI. The man said there had been burglaries in her neighborhood and offered to come to her home and install an alarm system.

He then asked the woman to wire him money prior to the work being done. At that point, the woman hung up, police said.

Also on Thursday, a Dover Township woman reported someone she'd met on the Internet two months ago was claiming to live in China and asked her to wire money to a woman in Florida so that woman could pay the man's attorney, police said.

The scammer also apparently hacked into her computer after she provided him with her personal information, including birthrate and address, police said.

Northern York County Regional Police urge people not to send money or give out personal information to people over the phone or on the Internet.
