York City Police are investigating two apparently unrelated street robberies that happened within a half-hour of each other on Sunday night.

At 7:30 p.m., Joshua Altland, 18, of West Clarke Avenue, was robbed as he was walking in the 500 block of Company Street, police said.

Police said Altland was approached by two men he didn't know, one of whom ordered Altland to hand over his valuables or be assaulted. Altland gave the robbers $9 cash, a pack of Newport cigarettes and a lighter, after which the robbers -- both in their late teens or early 20s -- took off, police said.

One robber is a heavyset white man, about 5-feet-8, wearing a black Indianapolis Colts hooded sweatshirt. The other was a thin Hispanic man, about 6 feet tall, wearing green and white pajama pants and a black jacket.

About 7 p.m., Albert Blaker, 49, of Long Road in East Manchester Township, was robbed in the 500 block of West Market Street while going to a friend's house, police said.

Police said two men followed Blaker into a breezeway, grabbed the back of his shirt and took his wallet from his pants pocket. Their description does not match that of the men who robbed Altland, police said.

Anyone with information about either robbery can call police at 846-1234.
