Kressley

An Emmy-winning television star known for doing makeovers will be the featured guest at a Junior League of York event in April.

Carson Kressley, who rose to fame on the makeover show "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy," will be part of the 24th annual "In the Spotlight" speaker series April 25 at 7:30 p.m. at the Pullo Center.

Junior League president Sara Hunt said Kressley was chosen as a change of pace - past speakers have included dignitaries such as Laura Bush and Colin Powell.

"We thought he would be a fun, energetic speaker. We're hoping it's something where people say, 'Wow, I bet he'd be fun,'" Hunt said.

An Allentown native and Gettysburg College graduate who also appeared on "Dancing with the Stars," Kressley has made a career of doing what he calls "make betters," using a makeover to transform a person inside and out.

The event includes Kressley speaking about his life and building self-confidence. A meet-and-greet will be available to VIP ticket holders.Tickets are available now for purchase at tickets.thepullocenter.com/.
