York City announced Sunday that midstate indie rock band Kingsfoil is the surprise opening act for the city's New Year Eve event.
Kingsfoil features Frankie Muniz, formerly of "Malcolm in the Middle," on drums, Jordan Davis on vocals, Tristan Martin on guitar and keyboard and Tim Warren on bass.
The New Year's Revolution celebration will run from 6 p.m. to 12:15 a.m. in downtown York with the main stage on Continental Square.
A children's countdown will be held 6 to 7:30 p.m. A deejay will play music from the stage at 7:45 p.m., Kingsfoil will perform at 9 p.m. and Groove Jones will lead off the grand finale celebration with their performance beginning at 10:45p.m.
That performance will last through the dropping of the White Rose and fireworks display at midnight.
Food and hot beverages for sale. The children's countdown will include face painting, a musical performance by the York County Youth Development Center and inflatable rides.
Parking for the event will be available for $5.75 per vehicle in the King and Philadelphia Street garages.
York City nearly didn't have a New Year's Eve celebration this year because of budget constraints, but a last-minute donation from Sprint made the event possible.
