A sinkhole closed part of a major York County thoroughfare Thursday.

About 4 p.m., PennDOT crews closed the westbound right lane of U.S. Route 30 near the Shoe House Road overpass between the Hellam and Mount Zion Road exits in Hellam Township, according to a news release.

As crews work to repair the damage, motorists should expect a lane restriction until Friday afternoon.
