Aubrey Hillmeyer has been writing numbers and drawing smiley faces on pieces of paper every day since Dec. 1.
"I'm counting down the days to my birthday," she said. "I'm really excited."
Well, Happy birthday Aubrey.
The West York girl turns 12 Wednesday - 12-12-12.
"This birthday is different," she said. "I feel like I have more excitement. My family is excited. My dad thinks it's really cool. He said that it's probably not going to happen for a while again."
Not until 3012.
Aubrey is a sixth-grader at St. Patrick Catholic School in York City, said for her birthday she wants to go to her two favorite restaurants, Emperor's Restaurant and the Olive Garden.
"We have some special things planned for her," said her mother, Jennifer Hillmeyer, who is 12 weeks pregnant. "The last three days, she has just been on cloud nine. She realizes this is very unique."
Bill Hillmeyer, Aubrey's father, said he realized several months ago the uniqueness of her birthday this year and has been planning to surprise her with "something exciting."
"We haven't had a chance to do a big birthday party in the past because it's so close to Christmas," he said. "But for this birthday, I want to try to do something to make this a special deal. I think it's a good thing."
Jennifer Hillmeyer said she knows her daughter will be happy with the family's birthday plans, as Aubrey is easy to please.
Jennifer also said Aubrey - who has a sister, Jocelyn, 13, and a 4-year-old brother, Cameron - enjoys doing various activities.
Aubrey plays the clarinet, sings in the school's choir, is a school cheerleader and plays soccer. She also has a red belt in karate.
"I'm an energetic person," the birthday girl said. "Those activities give me a chance to use all my energy."
