PHILADELPHIA—Officials are investigation a report of an attempted copper theft at a power substation in Philadelphia.

WPVI-TV reports ( http://bit.ly/TMYkrV) neighbors saw a bright flash from the Peco facility in the city's Northern Liberties neighborhood around 3 a.m. Sunday. Fire crews arrived and found a pair of bolt cutters clamped to a cable.

The incident is under investigation by the utility and Philadelphia police and officials say it may have been an attempted copper theft. There were no power outages reported as a result of the incident.

The utility is advising people to stay away from power equipment.
