A Harrisburg man was killed in a York City shooting early Saturday morning, police said.
A fight broke out shortly before 3 a.m. Saturday in front of MoMo's Restaurant at 1193 Loucks Road, according to a news release. One person involved in the fight fired several gunshots, fatally striking Christen Edward Latham, 25, of Harrisburg, police said.
A 26-year-old Harrisburg man also was hurt in the fight, but his injuries were not related to the gunfire, according to the news release. The man was taken to a hospital, but his injuries do not appear to be life-threatening, police said. His name has not been released.
An autopsy has been scheduled Monday morning for Latham at Lehigh Valley Medical Center, York County Deputy Coroner Steve Cosey said.
Jay Laboy, manager of MoMo's, said that he heard people arguing outside, but didn't think much about it because the crowd at the restaurant is normally very loud.
Laboy was escorting someone out of the restaurant for being too rowdy, and the next thing he knew he saw someone bleeding in the parking lot. He said he did not hear a shot.
A woman was giving the victim CPR but said it sounded like he had blood in his lungs, said Laboy.
He closed the restaurant immediately and his staff finished closing down and cleaning up by 3:40 a.m., he said.
"I decided to close the doors at 1:30 a.m. from now on," Laboy said. "I put signs up and I lost a lot of customers but customer safety is more important to me."
MoMo's used to be open until 4 a.
