Southern Regional Police have arrested a Railroad man for allegedly robbing a Shrewsbury tobacco shop at knifepoint over the weekend.

Dwayne Allen Holthaus, 28, of 20 Snyder Road, Lot 3, was arraigned Wednesday morning on charges of robbery, simple assault, making terroristic threats, theft, receiving stolen property, reckless endangerment and criminal mischief, police said.

His bail was set at $100,000 and he was waiting to be transported to York County Prison as of Wednesday morning, police said.

Southern Regional Sgt. Darryl Smuck said Holthaus confessed to the robbery and told police he ditched the knife in a wooded area behind his trailer. Officers found the knife at 11:20 a.m. Wednesday, Smuck said.

Police arrested Holthaus earlier Wednesday morning after he was found hiding inside his trailer, Smuck said.

A second person is facing a charge of hindering the apprehension of a suspect, for allegedly lying to officers about whether Holthaus was hiding in the trailer, according to Smuck. That person's name will be released after charges are filed.

Investigators tracked down Holthaus after finding surveillance video in the area of Planet RYO, 12 Constitution Ave., the sergeant said.

The footage showed the robber's getaway vehicle, and its license plate number led officers to Holthaus, police said.

He's accused of robbing Planet RYO about 6:40 p.m. Saturday. He stole cash and synthetic marijuana, which was being marketed as "potpourri," police said.
