The Biglerville boys' soccer team saw its magical postseason run end just one game short of a state championship match on Tuesday evening.

The Canners suffered a 3-0 loss to Sewickley Academy in a PIAA Class A semifinal contest at Hollidaysburg High School.

Biglerville finished in second place in York-Adams Division III during the regular season. But once the playoffs started, the Canners caught fire. They finished second in the District 3-A Tournament, which included a 2-0 victory over a York Catholic team that finished ahead of the Canners during the regular season in York-Adams Division III.

Biglerville then won two state playoff games by a combined margin of 7-1 before falling to a Sewickley team that improved to 21-1-1 with Tuesday's victory.

Biglerville finishes at 17-8-1.

Sewickley, the third-place team from District 7, will take on District 2 champion Mountain View for the state Class A title at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Hersheypark Stadium.

On Tuesday, Sewickley outshot Biglerville, 19-4, including an 8-3 edge in shots on goal. Sewickley also had a 6-3 advantage in corners.

Gerry Lua made four saves in goal for Biglerville.
