A Gettysburg man is in Adams County Prison after a woman he allegedly tried to burglarize restrained him at her home until state troopers arrived in the predawn hours Wednesday, according to State Police at the Gettysburg barracks.

Police said 25-year-old Jeremy Ian Streeb of Hanover Road struggled with 47-year-old Katherine Chambers, of the 600 block of North Street in McSherrystown. A shot was discharged from a .22-caliber firearm he was carrying, but nobody was injured, police said.

Chambers and family members restrained the man until police arrived, about 3:50 a.m., police said.

Streeb is being charged with burglary, aggravated assault, simple assault, reckless endangerment, carrying a firearm without a license, possessing an instrument of crime and resisting arrest.
