Southwestern Regional Police are warning residents of two scams in which people claim to be collecting money for a local fire department and North Codorus Township.
Within the past week, police have received several reports on the two separate monetary scams.
In the first incident, two white males were going door to door claiming to be from a local fire department and were selling times to have a family portrait photograph taken with proceeds going to the fire department, according to police.
In the second incident, which occurred on Thursday, a woman was going to homes and collecting funds to help improve the road in North Codorus Township. She is described as a five-foot-six, slightly overweight white woman with blond, kinky hair who was wearing a bright yellow vest, police said.
Police advise that most municipalities require a permit to solicit and those persons will have identification with them. If you are unsure about someone's authenticity, call your local municipalities or the police department.
