The Biglerville boys' soccer team has advanced to the PIAA State Class A quarterfinals.
The Canners, the District 3-A runners-up, rolled to a 3-0 victory over Windber at Somerset High School on Tuesday in a first-round state battle.
Mario Ortega scored twice for the Canners and Armando Rojo provided two assists. Biglerville rolled to a 3-0 halftime lead and cruised to victory. Carlos Esquizias had Biglerville's other goal.
The Canners outshot Windber, 11-2, and also had a 5-1 edge in corner kicks.
Gerry Lua got the win in goal, making two saves.
Biglerville will now take on District 7 runner-up Greensburg Central Catholic in a quarterfinal contest on Saturday. Greensburg Central Catholic (16-5-1) downed District 6 champion Bishop McCort in a first-round match on Tuesday, 2-1.
The site and time for the Biglerville-Greensburg Central Catholic game has also yet to be determined.
The Canners improved to 16-7-1 on the season.
