York City officials on Tuesday lifted the restriction on water use and said the wastewater treatment plant was operating normally.

Customers who live in the service area of the York City Wastewater Treatment Plant can resume normal water use, according to Jim Gross, public works director.

The service area includes York City; Manchester, Spring Garden and York townships; and North York and West York boroughs.

Local residents on Monday were asked to restrict water use as a precaution in the wake of Hurricane Sandy. .
