Police in York and Adams counties will conduct sobriety checkpoints this weekend, in conjunction with the Center for Traffic Safety.

The checkpoints will be held between 6 p.m. Friday and 6 p.m. Sunday, according to the center.

According to the center, 31 percent of driver deaths involving people ages 16 to 20 involved driving who'd been drinking - up from 27 percent in 2009.

Traffic crashes involving youths cost Pennsylvanians more than $390 million in 2010, according to the center.

The Pennsylvania DUI Association and the Center for Traffic Safety urge people not to drive while intoxicated, to call a taxi or designate a sober driver instead.
