A Newberry Township man arrested for a burglary in Monaghan Township remains in York County Prison in lieu of bail and on a parole violation.

Andrew Vaughan Pierson, 24, was arrested by Fairview Township Police outside a motel Wednesday according to Carroll Township Police.

He is charged with burglary, theft and trespass in connection with the early October burglary of a home on North Seasons Drive in Monaghan Township.

Pierson was remanded to prison on $25,000 bail and on a parole violation, meaning that even if he were to post bail, he wouldn't be released.

Burglary: A resident of a nearby home to the one that was burglarized saw a male, later identified as Pierson, at several houses in the Memphord housing development during the day on Oct. 5, police said.

The alert neighbor drove through the neighborhood, found an unoccupied vehicle and jotted down the license plate number, police said.

The neighbor called police with the information, which led authorities to Pierson.

"The neighbor he did everything right and may have prevented additional crimes and possible death or injury to other citizens due to the burglaries occurring during daylight hours," said Sgt. David Smith.

On Wednesday, a Fairview Township Police officer was on patrol and found the vehicle parked outside Travel Inn, 300 Commerce Drive, in the township. The officer found Pierson and arrested him for the burglary.

"We work closely with them as well as the other jurisdictions in York County and Cumberland County ... criminals are not bound by county lines and perpetrate crimes regardless of geographical areas," Smith said. "As far as Fairview Township Police, they did an excellent job tracking down Pierson."

Pierson, who previously pleaded guilty to unrelated burglary charges, is also a suspect in other burglaries that occurred in northern York County since March, which is when Pierson was released from prison, Smith said.
