The Red Lion Area School Board's newest member is a longtime resident and sports coach.
Ed Miller, 46, grew up in Red Lion and graduated in 1984. Now, as a husband and father of two children at the high school, Miller said it's time to help out.
"I thought about it years ago for the general reasons people do - taxes," Miller said. "I have a little more time now."
Miller was unanimously approved at a recent Red Lion board meeting to replace Charles Salisbury, a pastor who resigned in September because of a job promotion. Salisbury had about three years left on his term.
Miller said he isn't in favor of the existing school property tax system, and wants to find out all facets of how the district budget works.
Outside of the board, Miller is an electronic technician with Honeywell and coaches youth softball.
"It's another opportunity to volunteer," Miller said of serving on the board.
