Police continue to investigate last week's homicide of a York County man in Clinton County, who police said was shot by his wife's father.

Robert D. Bittner Jr., 25, of Lewisberry was shot Oct. 15 while involved in a domestic dispute with his wife, according to state police.

During the dispute, the wife's 67-year-old father, Eugene Pizzino, shot Bittner, police said.

It happened at Pizzino's home on Clinton Avenue in South Renovo, Clinton County, police said.

Bittner was taken to Bucktail Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, according to police.

At this point, Pizzino has not been arrested.

Clinton County District Attorney Mike Salisbury said his office and state police "are conducting a careful and thorough investigation prior to making any decision as to charges."

Salisbury said his office will make an announcement when a decision is made whether to file charges in the death.

Although Bittner's death has been ruled a homicide, it doesn't necessarily mean a crime was committed.

That's because the term homicide encompasses murder, manslaughter and justifiable homicide, or self-defense.

South Renovo is in a rural area surrounded by state game lands, state forests and state parks.
