The Northern York County Regional Police announced on Thursday the hiring of a new police officer.

Zachary T. Grey, 23, of Reading was hired by the department and has begun a 13-week field-training program, according to the department.

After completion of the field-training program, Grey will be assigned to the patrol division.

Grey is a 2007 graduate of York Catholic High School and a 2012 graduate of Alvernia University with a degree in criminal justice and graduated from the Reading Police Academy in December.
