York Suburban High School graduate Todd Meyer was inducted into the Alvernia University Athletics Hall of Fame on Friday night.

Meyer was the 2002 NCAA Division III Baseball Player of the Year. He was inducted into the Alvernia Hall of Fame in the first year he was eligible.

Meyer left a lasting impression on the baseball record books in his four-year career at Alvernia. He remains in the top five in nine career offensive statistical categories, including first in home runs (63), RBIs (244) and slugging percentage (.842).

After hitting one home run as a freshman, in a season when wooden bats were used, he went on to hit 62 more over the next three years and leads second place on the career list by 19. He hit 25 home runs his senior year.

For his efforts in his senior year he was named the NCAA Division III National Player of the Year and invited to participate in the All-Division College Home Run Derby at the Division I World Series that summer in Omaha.

On the mound, Meyer is sixth in career wins (21), fourth in both complete games (11) and shutouts (two) and the career leader in strikeouts with 260. The summer after his senior year he was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Montreal Expos and spent three seasons in their minor league farm system, mainly as a relief pitcher.

After his minor league career ended, Meyer returned to York County to become a Central League standout with the Pleasureville Hawks. He hit .457 with the Hawks last season.
