Officials have positively identified the man who died Monday in a fiery Washington Township crash.

Timothy S. Grim Jr., 19, died of injuries he suffered in the crash, according to York County Chief Deputy Coroner Claude Stabley.

Earlier this week Stabley said he intended to make a positive identification of the victim through DNA testing, because the body was too deteriorated for any other type of identification measures.

But on Wednesday, officials were able to positively identify Grim through his dental records, Stabley said.

Grim had been living on Ziegler Road in Wellsville, but most recently was using his father's address on Kuhn Fording Road in the East Berlin area, Stabley said.

It's very likely Grim died instantly from the force of the impact -- before the car he was driving burst into flames with him inside, Stabley said.

Stabley described the fire as extremely intense, and said it destroyed the Toyota Grim was driving.

What happened: The crash happened about 1:30 p.m. Monday on the Baltimore Pike (Route 194) near the Leathery Road intersection, just a few miles south of Dillsburg.

Grim was southbound when he apparently lost control at a slight curve and went into the northbound lane, where he crashed into a tractor-trailer, state police said.

The truck hit the passenger side of the car, pushing its doors almost to the middle of the car.

The 45-year-old Elizabethtown man who was driving the tractor-trailer was taken to Hershey Medical Center for a moderate injury, state police said.

Police said wet roads and speed appear to be factors in the crash.

Baltimore Pike between Creek and Ridge roads was closed for about four hours.
