A York City man who on Monday night refused to comply with robbers' demands to "empty his pockets" was badly beaten by them, police said.

Injuries to Wayne Dorylis Sr., 50, of South Duke St., include multiple cuts and scapes on his head and a broken arm, and was transported to York Hospital, according to police.

Dorylis was treated and released, a York Hospital spokesman said.

According to York City Police, Dorylis was in the first block of North Pine Street about 10:40 p.m. when three males approached him and told him to empty his pockets, but he refused.

The males beat him with their fists and an unknown object, police said. During the attack, Dorylis dropped his cell phone, which was kicked away by one of the assailants, police said; the phone wasn't found.
