The Spring Grove Area School District is taking advantage of a free audit that will show the district ways it can save energy, as well as money.

The school board this week approved entering into a contract with ECG Engineering LLC to identify potential projects that would result in energy savings.

According to ECG's website, the company has assisted more than 60 school districts through the energy performance contract process since 2001. Completion of the projects has resulted in millions in energy cost savings realized from upgraded energy-consuming systems, according to ECG.

A timeline has not been set for the energy review.
