Tom Guinther Jr. made it a point to stop at the York Expo Center Thursday night.

The 43-year-old Hornsdale man was passing through the area after picking up a load in his tractor-trailer and decided to make an impromptu stop to see KIX and Vince Neil of Motley Crue rock out during the opening night of White Rose Thunder.

"I happened to be driving through and squeezed it into the schedule," Guinther said.

An avid KIX fan who remembers buying their albums when he was in high school, Guinther said he's been to a number of venues throughout the northeast to hear the band.

And on Thursday, the band's performance was as good as ever, he said.

"I hope they play for another 20 years, Guinther said.

Weekend: This is the first year that the once one-day Bike Night held in York City moved to a four-day affair.

Held Thursday through Sunday, the event is expected attract nearly 35,000 visitors who are predicted to spend $6 million in the county, according to the York County Convention & Visitors Bureau.

Several events and attractions will be featured during White Rose Thunder, including a 2,000-motorcycle parade downtown starting at 6 p.m. Friday, stunt shows, poker runs, charity rides, 150 tattoo artists, 25 food vendors, car shows and the return of flat track racing, which was an annual event in York from 1959 through 1994.

Rosemarie O'Neill, who works at Pandora's Box at 466 E. Market St. in York City, said she expects the bar will be full as motorcyclists and onlookers descend upon the city throughout the weekend.

"Every year I look forward to it (York's bike event)," she said.

Parade: Raelynn and Joe Trone of Jacobus said they are taking part in the parade on their Harley-Davidson.

While Raelynn Trone said she was enjoying the concert, she did say she was disappointed that event organizers didn't offer a weekend admission pass instead of single-day $15 admission passes.

"They didn't offer a weekend pass," she said. "I think that they should have."

As he waited for Vince Neil to take the stage, Greg Davy of Spring Grove he's been impressed with the event so far and added that he's looking forward to taking in an number of the other planned attractions.

"We're going to do it all," he said.
