An Allentown man accused of taking part in a July robbery that left a York Township jewelry store owner with three gunshot wounds waived his preliminary hearing Thursday.

Two counts of robbery and one count each of attempted homicide, conspiracy to commit aggravated assault, theft and receiving stolen property against Jamell L. Smallwood, 39, were forwarded to York County Common Pleas Court.

Smallwood, who was also shot during the robbery, allegedly took part in the July 12 armed robbery at White Jewelers.

Store owner John White was shot three times and spent a period of time in a hospital.

York Area Regional Police allege that Smallwood was one of three men who held up the 204 St. Charles Way store. At some point during the robbery, police believe he was shot by one of his fellow robbers.

Smallwood's attorney, Jeffrey Katz, declined comment after the hearing at District Judge Scott Laird's office.

Smallwood remains in York County Prison in lieu of $500,000 bail.

Detective Donald Hopple said no charges have been filed against the other robbers but added to "stay tuned."
