A long-time Northern York County Regional Police officer retired earlier this week after 26 years of service with the department.

Cpl. Philip P. Blazosky, 53, began his career with the department in 1986 as a member of the K-9 unit, serving with his partner, Ondo, and began serving in the department's criminal investigations unit in 1988, according to a news release from the department.

In 1995, he rose to the rank of corporal and was a supervisor in the patrol division. Blazosky was assigned as the emergency services liaison officer in 1997.

His last day with the department was Monday.

Throughout his career, Blazosky was committed to serving the citizens of York County, the release says.

"He was a big part of this organization and will be missed," said Chief Mark Bentzel.
