Two shoplifters turned a retail theft into a felony robbery when they scuffled with store employees at Bon-Ton in the York Galleria, police said.

Springettsbury Township Police said two York City residents shoplifted $430 worth of clothing about 4 p.m. Sunday, then tried to leave the store.

Store employees tried to stop the shoplifters and take back the clothing, at which point a scuffle ensued, police said. The shoplifters then ran from the store.

Officers found them in a wooded area near the Galleria and arrested them, police said.

Aury Hernandez-Morel, 18, of 709 Linden Ave., remains free on $5,000 bail, charged with robbery, retail theft, conspiracy to commit retail theft and harassment.

A 15-year-old York City girl will be charged as a juvenile for the robbery, police said.
