A Fairfield, Adams County woman died Friday night and two others were injured after a three-vehicle crash on Route 30 in Franklin Township, also Adams County.
State police said 27-year-old Brandon Zirk of Waynesboro was traveling west on Route 30 around 9:30 p.m. when he crossed over the double yellow line, sideswiping an eastbound 2002 Kia operated by 79-year-old Roger Keefer of New Oxford.
After that impact, Zirk continued to travel in the wrong direction and collided head-on with a 2005 Sujuki Forenza driven by Angela Rigby, 33. She died at the scene, according to state police.
Keefer suffered only minor injuries, while Zirk was taken to Gettysburg Hospital before being transferred to York Hospital due to the extent of his injuries. Zirk was the only driver wearing his seat belt.
Police said alcohol is a suspected factor in the crash, which closed the road in both directions for about five hours.
