Four veteran York Area Regional Police officers were promoted during a police commission meeting last week.

Promoted were: Tobin Zech to lieutenant and Timothy Damon, Peter Montgomery and Joel Good to sergeants, according to a news release from the department.

Zech, an U.S. Marine veteran, joined the department in 1993 and will be the department's second in command, serving as the operation commander.

Damon, a 10-year veteran of the department, was previously promoted to corporal in 2009. He is also a member of the York County Quick Response Team.

Montgomery, who serves as a public information officer, joined he department in 2002. For the past three years, he has organized the department's National Night Out events.

Good, who joined the department in 1999 and held the rank of corporal since 2004, initiated the department's Taser weapons.

Damon, Montgomery and Good will serve as squad supervisors, the release says.

All four men have completed a number of training programs and have received a number of awards over their careers.

They will fill vacancies that occurred because of recent retirements, the release says.
