The Red Lion school board received a review of more than $250,000 in capital improvement projects completed over the summer at its recent board meeting.

The district replaced carpets in the senior high school, junior high school, education center and two elementary schools. The major carpet replacement was in the senior high school library. The project cost $48,085.

Also, the district repainted the senior high school, junior high school, education center and three elementary schools, which cost about $75,000.

In addition to the carpet and paint, the district replaced the roof over the B and C wing of the senior high school at a cost of $184,000, then fixed the sidewalk, which cost $22,611.

The soccer fields at the junior high now have fencing and netting around the field, and the bleachers at Horn Field were repainted.

"Everything went well on opening day," Jeffrey Bryan, director of buildings and grounds, said. "Things are running well and we are looking forward to the challenges this school year."

He said some of the projects completed should help the district save on energy costs.
