Reliance Cafe in West York will reopen on Monday after being closed one week for renovations.

Owner Kostas "KJ" Sgagias said work has been ongoing at the restaurant for the past four years, but the establishment was closed for the first time this week to sealcoat and paint the parking lot.

Updates were also made to the refrigeration and air conditioning systems and to the flooring in the kitchen and back hallway, and additional lighting was added to the deck.

"This is the culmination of all our work from the past four years," Sgagias said. Located at 1413 W. Market St.,, the eatery is normally open seven days a week with a full menu and bar.

When it reopens with its normal hours on Monday, it will begin serving breakfast all day, he said. It previously stopped serving breakfast at noon.

"There are not a lot of places that offer breakfast around us and, with the economy being the way it is ,we're trying to offer people different options," said Sgagias.

At least 10 new items are being added to the menu, and the restaurant will continue serving Pennsylvania Dutch classics such as chicken pot pie and chicken and waffles, he said.

The restaurant also will host an open mic night on Sunday, Sept. 30 that the public is welcome to attend.

Reliance Cafe is open seven days a week from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.
