A local pizza shop is expanding back into Springettsbury Township.

Marcello's Pizza will open this fall at 15 Cinema Drive, according to owner Marcello Mannino.

He couldn't confirm a specific date for what will be his 10th restaurant in York County

Mannino first opened a Marcello's Pizza in March 1990 on George Street in York. Since then, he has established locations in Mount Wolf, Red Lion, Shrewsbury, West Manchester Mall, Wrightsville and York Township. Though he has franchised some of those stores, he still owns and operates the shops in Red Lion and the West Manchester Mall.

Mannino also owns two Azteca Mexican restaurants in West York and York.

He previously owned and operated a Marcello's Pizza on East Market Street in Springettsbury Township from 2005 to 2010, when Mannino sold the real estate to the Fraternal Order of Eagles.

The owner said he knew it was time to move back into the township when customers started calling other stores, asking when Mannino would open a shop in the eastern part of the county.

When Marcello's Pizza opens this fall, it will serve those customers and create 20 jobs, Mannino said. Hours will be 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.

The new Springettsbury Township store may also be the beginning of an expansion, he said.

"Next year, I'm planning to (have) three more locations," Mannino said.

He declined to specify where the shops would be, but Mannino said they would all be in York County.
