YORK - The York College women's soccer team made its 2012 home debut an impressive one on Sunday afternoon.

The Spartans rolled past Maritime College 10-0 in a non-conference contest. The Spartans, who entered the game having scored just one goal in their first three games, improved to 2-0-2, while the Privateers fell to 0-5.

York got 10 goals from 10 different players - Kristi Hepner, Elizabeth Bunn, Jamie Sokolis, Tyler Frantz, Samm Testerman, Eastern York grad Caroll Charles, Caitlin Aversa, Kayla Kovalsky, Red Lion grad Emma Georgantis and Lauren Fowler. Traci Mohl had two assists for York. Fowler, Taylor Folk, Megan Arthur and Jessica Christakis also had assists.

The Spartans held a 52-1 bulge in total shots and a 31-0 margin in shots on goal. The Spartans attempted 17 corner kicks in the contest while Maritime had two.

SPARTANS FALL IN MEN'S SOCCER:- Susquehanna's John Arnold headed home a goal in the 78th minute to lift the Susquehanna Crusaders over the York College Spartans, 1-0, in the championship game of the Holiday Inn Conference Center Men's Soccer Classic on Sunday.

The Crusaders improved to 5-0, while the Spartans fell to 3-1. York came into the match ranked No. 2 in NCAA Division III.

The win for the Crusaders snapped a few streaks for the Spartans. It ended York's nine-game win streak against the Crusaders. York had not suffered a loss to its northern foe since Oct. 9, 2002. Arnold's goal also ended a streak of 487 minutes, 21 seconds in which the Spartans had held the Crusaders' scoreless. The last time Susquehanna scored was in the Oct. 23, 2007 match, a game the Spartans won 2-1.

Susquehanna had a 9-8 edge in shots, while both teams had six corners.

Susquehannock High School graduate Jesse Derksen had two saves in goal for York.
