A Maryland man was arrested after he allegedly backed into a police vehicle and resisted arrest in New Freedom on Sunday.
Southern Regional Police were dispatched to the Hodle Tavern, 106 N. Front St., at 10:40 p.m. for a report of a fight.
When officers arrived, one of the people involved in the fight, Richard Thomas Jr., 21, of Freeland, Md., attempted to leave in a vehicle but instead backed into a police vehicle, police said.
Thomas refused to get out of his vehicle and had to be removed by officers, police said.
After a brief struggle, Thomas was taken into custody, police said.
Thomas is charged with DUI, resisting arrest, driving on a suspended license and related traffic offenses, police said.
He was taken to central booking for arraignment and subsequently placed in York County Prison on $2,500 bail and for a probation violation, police said.
