Chick-fil-A is a step closer to opening in York City.

The restaurant's land development plan will be reviewed by city council Tuesday, according to Kevin Schreiber, economic and community development director.

A 4,736-square-foot store is planned at 922 Loucks Road at the site of the former Lone Star Steakhouse & Saloon, he said.

Chick-fil-A has already received its highway occupancy certification from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, he said. Upon city council approval, demolition may begin, he said.

The chicken chain will tear down the old Lone Star to make room for a 117-seat restaurant with a drive-thru, according to plans submitted to the city's planning commission.

Chick-fil-A officials could not be reached immediately Thursday morning to confirm an opening date.

The new store will be the first business on a site left vacant since Lone Star closed during the beginning of 2008.

Chick-fil-A operates stores in Shrewsbury and in the West Manchester Mall, and another is planned in Springettsbury Township.
