Stultz

An Adams County man spent 116 days in York County Prison for allegedly exposing and fondling himself while standing in front of a York City church two nights in a row last spring.

Brant James Stultz, 33, of Main Street in York Springs, pleaded no contest Thursday to indecent exposure, according to court records. In exchange, charges including open lewdness, defiant trespass and public drunkenness were dismissed.

Defendants who plead no contest aren't admitting guilt. Rather, they are saying they won't contest the charges against them.

Stultz was sentenced to 116 days to 23 months in prison, which amounted to a time-served sentence, according to court records.

He also was ordered to submit to a drug and alcohol evaluation and to undergo sexual-offender probation conditions.

His public defender, Catherine Himes, did not return a phone message seeking comment.

The background: York City Police said Stultz had a shirt wrapped around his head but was otherwise naked when he stood in front of By His Mercy Ministries, 593 W. Market St., and masturbated about 3:30 a.m. April 29 and again about 2:35 a.m. April 30.

Stultz was gone when officers were dispatched for the first incident, but he was there 23 hours later when officers were called a second time, police said.

When Stultz spotted officers he ran and hid facedown in tall grass and weeds, but was found and arrested. He smelled of alcohol and later told officers his behavior was "alcohol-driven," according to police.

Similar cases:Stultz also has a pending criminal case in Adams County Court in which he's charged with two counts each of indecent exposure and open lewdness. Gettysburg Police filed those charges on April 11.

In March 2010, Stultz pleaded guilty in York County Court to two counts each of indecent exposure and disorderly conduct and was sentenced to four months in prison, according to court records.

York City Police said Stultz exposed his genitals to passing drivers twice in two weeks back in fall 2009.

Those incidents happened Oct. 22, 2009, and Nov. 3, 2009.
