York Revolution slugger Chris Nowak and starting pitcher Ryan Feierabend put up impressive performances Tuesday to lead their team to a 9-1 victory at Somerset.

Nowak took over the Atlantic League lead in home runs with a pair of three-run blasts, while Feierabend (5-3) struck out 10 in eight dominant innings.

With the win, York (52-49 overall, 16-15 second half) increased its wild-card lead to three games over the Patriots (50-53 overall, 15-18 second half). The Revs will go for the series sweep on Wednesday night, before returning home Thursday.

Feierabend: Feierabend allowed his only run in the bottom of the seventh on a double-play grounder. The lefty walked just one and threw 79 of his 105 pitches for

strikes. His 10 strikeouts are the most by a Revs' starter in a game this season. He also benefited from three double-play grounders and picked off a runner.

Revs' closer Ricardo Gomez tossed a 1-2-3 ninth inning, which included one strikeout, to seal the win.

Offense: The game went scoreless until the top of the fifth inning, when the Revs broke it open with a five-run frame. York infielder Joe Thurston grounded into a fielder's choice at first base, but Somerset catcher Yusuf Carter dropped the throw home to the plate to allow Liu Rodriguez to score. As the ball bounced away, York's Brandon Haveman raced home across the uncovered plate. Nowak then followed with a three-run homer to left, giving York a 5-0 advantage. Nowak later added an RBI single to left in the sixth inning, increasing the lead to 6-0.

Nowak capped his huge day with another three-run homer to left in the eighth, to almost the identical spot. His two homers give him a league-leading 22 for the season, now within three of matching his own club record of 25 a year ago. His seven RBIs tie the second-most in a game in club history. He is the first Revs batter to drive in seven in a game since 2007. He now has 29 RBIs in his last 21 games. It was also his club-record fifth multi-homer game in a York uniform.

Patriots starter Sean Green (3-5) suffered the loss, charged with six runs (five earned) in 52/3 innings. He walked a season-high six batters.

Game notes: The Revs improved to 9-3 against Somerset this season. ... York has only swept one three-game road series in club history, and goes for a second Wednesday. ... The Revs' only sweep this season came at home against the Patriots from May 11-13. ... Revs pitchers have thrown quality starts in four consecutive games, a season-high. ... York has outscored the Patriots 16-2 in the first two games of the series, improving to 4-4 on the current road trip with one game remaining. ... York left-hander Derrick Gordon (4-5, 5.42 ERA) will face Somerset lefty Roy Merritt (6-6, 3.42) in Wednesday's finale, with first pitch scheduled at 7:05 p.m.
