York City Police are looking for a Red Lion man who allegedly dragged a police officer about 10 feet with his car and fled from police after being stopped for a loud music violation.
The incident occurred just after midnight on Saturday when Joshua Rafael Velex-Padilla, of Red Lion, was stopped in the 400 block of West College Avenue, said York City Police Capt. Ron Camacho.
Officer Michael Meeker discovered Velez-Padilla was driving on a suspended license and ordered him out of the 2001 Green Mitsubishi Galant he was driving, Camacho said. Velez-Padilla started to get out of the car, then changed his mind and got back into the vehicle, he said. He threw the car into gear and "accelerated hard" as Meeker was attempting to pull him out of the car, Camacho said.
The officer had to throw himself aside to avoid being run over, Camacho said.
Velex-Padilla, who was last seen driving away, will be charged with aggravated assault, fleeing a police officer, and driving on a suspended license.
