Someone pretending to be from the York County Sheriff's Office is threatening to arrest people if they don't send money to satisfy warrants.
It's a scam, the office said in a news release Friday.
In some cases, the impostor's phone number even shows up on caller ID as the sheriff's office.
"The York County Sheriff's Office is not in the practice of calling to collect fees or debts for any company or individual or to satisfy a warrant," according to the news release.
The caller asks people for their credit-card information or to wire funds for the purpose of paying off a debt.
The sheriff's office is advising anyone who receives such a call to record all possible information and contact the Pennsylvania Sheriffs' Association at (877) 236-7335.
