Sitting in front of more than 400 imported beers neatly lined up in a cooler at his new business, owner Joshua Braun admits that he hasn't sampled all of them.

"But I'm trying," he said.

In two weeks, Braun will open the doors to Beer Mongers - a new bar and bottle shop in York Township.

At 3000 Queen St., it is taking over the old address of the former Zinger's Sports Bar, and Braun has had the place revamped to fit the image of what he wants his business to be.

"We've stripped every surface," he said.

In the 32-seat bottle shop with two large-screen TVs, one cooler features more than 400 craft beers, and another holds about 200 domestic beers.

An adjoining, 75-seat bar with two pool tables, four large-screen TVs, a smoking deck and its own entrance, will sell liquor and has about 20 beers on tap, he said.

"Beer is my passion," he said.

That's why the Dallastown High School graduate chose to branch out from Braun's Barber Shop, the family's 75-year business at 411 S. George St.

But he still wants Beer Mongers to have that family feel, he said.

The new bar will create about 20 jobs, he said, and will also sell a simple, preservative-free menu, including soup, sandwiches and fresh-cut fries.

Prices, and a specific grand opening date, have yet to be determined, he said.

"I want it to be moderate, fair pricing," he said.

And though Beer Mongers has an active liquor license and passed its food inspection, Braun said he still wants to work out some final kinks before officially opening the doors.
