A short standoff between police and a potentially armed man who had his two-year-old child with him in a Conewago Township home ended peacefully Monday.

Brian Ritz, 42, of 5145 Susquehanna Trail, lot 32, surrendered to police roughly an hour after the standoff started, according to Northern York County Regional Police.

He is charged with terroristic threats and reckless endangerment, police said.

Officers were dispatched to Ritz's home just before 3 p.m. for a report of a domestic incident, police said.

A woman, who is the toddler's mother, was in the process of moving out of the home when she and Ritz got into an argument, during which Ritz allegedly threatened to shoot the woman, police said.

After the threat was made, Ritz grabbed the child, went into the home and closed the doors, police said.

The woman told responding officers that Ritz had a shotgun in the home, police said.

Officers set up a perimeter around the home and attempted to make contact with Ritz using a phone and a loudspeaker for nearly an hour.

Contact was made and Ritz surrendered to police without incident.
