Update: The York area could see thunderstorms Friday afternoon, the National Weather Service said.

Isolated storms will move through central Pennsylvania throughout the afternoon, with a possibility of brief downpours and lightning, the service said.

Friday and Saturday will be mostly sunny in the area, with patchy fog before 10 a.m. and a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m., according to the National Weather Service. The high will be 92 and the low 71, and winds will be from the south at around 6 mph.

Friday, the Susquehanna Valley is under an orange air quality alert, issued by the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection. That means air pollution concentrations could become unhealthy for sensitive groups, including children, the elderly and people with asthma, heart disease and other lung conditions. People in those groups are urged to avoid strenuous activity outside.

Sunday will be partly sunny, with a 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, the forecast said. Sunday's high will be 90 and the low 70, and winds will be from the south at 7-11 mph.

Monday has a chance of showers and thunderstorms, mostly before 1 p.m., the NWS said. The day will be partly sunny, with a high of 88 and low of 66.

Tuesday and Wednesday will be sunny, with highs around 88 and lows around 67, the forecast said.
