A recent surge in commercial development in Springettsbury Township is likely to result in about 400 jobs coming to the area.
Township manager John Holman provided that tally at last week's supervisors meeting, running down a list of projects and their employment impact:
---Buffalo Wild Wings, under construction in the York Mall next to Applebee's, will have about 45 positions available and expects to open sometime this fall.
---A proposed Chik-fil-A is expected to bring in an additional 50-60 positions and will be housed where a Blockbuster is now located on East Market Street.
---Marriot Suites, planned for Concord Road, will employ between 30-40 individuals.
---A proposed Social Security and IRS facility, which is to be built off Industrial Highway and Wolf Drive, will have approximately 85 positions. Those employees are being shifted from other locations.
---The Weir American Hydro facility, which already employs approximately 200 people, will expand, and this expansion will provide for 160 positions. The project is expected to be complete by the first quarter of next year.
