Weis Markets has removed from its shelves deli items containing recalled onions.

The onions, produced by Gill Onions of Oxnard, Calif., are under voluntary recall, said Dennis Curtin, the company's director of public relations, in a statement.

Removed items are Weis brand pre-packed cole slaw and potato, egg, ham and pasta salads, as well as all Weis 2 Go Salads and the store's Garden Fresh Salsa.

Customers can return these products for a full refund at any Weis Markets' store, Curtin said.

"We are doing this as a precaution since there have been no reports of illness related to this recall, nor have there been reports in any other part of the company," he said.

The store also is contacting customers who purchased those products. A recall alert has been posted on its Facebook page at www.facebook.com/weissupermarket. Information also can be found in the recall section at weismarkets.com, according to Curtin.
