A West York man is facing charges after he was caught transporting 38 living marijuana plants in May, according to Northeastern Regional Police.

Imranul Haque, 21, of the 1200 block of West Princess Street, was charged with possession with intent to deliver and possession of marijuana, said Northeastern Regional Police Chief Brian Rizzo.

Northeastern Regional Police Officer Patrick Kidd followed Haque's vehicle on Gut Road in East Manchester Township on May 25, and after he got permission to search the vehicle he found a container with marijuana in it, said Rizzo. Once Kidd obtained a search warrant, the police found 38 marijuana plants in the vehicle, said Rizzo.

Haque's girlfriend was also in the vehicle but she is not being charged, Rizzo said.

"We will occasionally find plants back there that people have planted, but it is rare that we actually catch someone in the act of planting them," Rizzo said.

Haque is being held in York County Prison until his preliminary hearing, said Rizzo.
