The Pie Shop, a York City bakery in the heart of Central Market, is for sale.

Owner Will Lenhart listed the business on Craigslist on Wednesday morning, asking $15,000 for the shop that generates $35,000 in annual sales.

Included in the sale will be The Pie Shop name and recipes, training and the contents of the Central Market stand.

"I'm hoping to find a buyer who has the same passion for baking and passion for pie that I do," he said.

Lenhart, who opened the bakery in April 2011, said he hopes to sell the shop by the end of October, when he will leave to pursue California dreams.

He's moving to West Hollywood this fall to advance his career, planning to open an upscale, boutique pie shop, he said.

Until then, the buyer will have him on hand to ensure a smooth transition, he said.

"There will be an easy flow of taking over for anyone who buys it," he said.

The buyer will also inherit great patrons, Lenhart said.

"The goodwill the customers have had to the Pie Shop is worth any dollar amount," he said. "The business is doing fantastically well because of them - to the point my partners think I'm crazy for selling."

To thank those customers, Lenhart said he's planning a pie giveaway for his last day in the market.

Prices at the Pie Shop typically range from $3 for a single slice to $25 for a 9-inch pie.

Along with customer support, Lenhart said he was also able to grow his business by using YorKitchen, a shared commercial kitchen in the city that's housed in an annex of Central Market.

"That really helped keep my overhead low, build a customer base and bake more pies. Being close to the kitchen will be attractive to buyers," he said.
