A new discount retailer is moving to Manchester Township.

Henderson, N.C.-based Variety Wholesalers Inc. announced it will open a new Roses Express store in the Chester Square Shopping Center at 4215 N. George St.

An opening date has yet to be determined, as the store is still being renovated, a spokeswoman said.

The new store will create 40 to 50 jobs in the area, according to a company statement.

Roses stores offer discounted merchandise, including clothing, shoes, housewares, toys, food, giftware, seasonal items, and health and beauty products.

The Manchester location will be the first Roses store in York County.

Other Pennsylvania locations include Aliquippa, Lower Burrell, Philadelphia and West Mifflin.

Operated by privately-owned Variety Wholesalers, a family business established in 1922, the company also manages a fleet of 412 stores in 15 states, including chain retailers Bargain Town, Bill's Dollar Store, Maxway, Super Dollar, Super 10, Treasure Mart and Value Mart.
